MINSTRIES OF THE SCJ-INDIA DISTRICT
Being present in India for 25 years, the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, India-District has been involving in varieties of ministries. The love of the Heart of Jesus shared to us from the faith experience of Fr. Dehon continues to inspire us to work for the reign of the Heart of Jesus in souls and society.
          Daily Eucharistic Adoration in our communities and parishes becomes the hall-mark of the congregation in India. This gradually opens the way for further spreading of the Sacred Heart spirituality and bringing many more people closer to the loving and merciful Heart of Jesus.
         For the past years prior important has been given to formation which involves training of candidates to religious priest and brotherhood as well as to form authentic human persons in the society. Majority of the District personals are being involved in the formation ministry centered on six formation houses.
           Together with formation goes the next important ministry of vocation promotion. A few members are appointed in the line of promoting vocation from all the parts of India to religious life which includes family visit, vocation camps, etc.,
Another ministry in the District actively carried out is the pastoral ministry through six parishes entrusted to us and through other pastoral activities such as assisting the parishes in need. Pastoral ministry has been a platform for spreading the Sacred Heart spirituality and the apostolic work of the congregation more concretely.
            Another initiated ministry of the District is youth ministry. Some communities have volunteered in forming a group of Dehonian youth and keeping them active by periodical programs of gathering and spending time together.
The district also renders spiritual assistance to many religious and parishes in the form of confession, preaching, recollections, and retreats.
Some of the members are also involved in teaching ministry in the Philosophical and Theological academies.
The district has also recently initiated spreading religious articles through small scale marketing.
            Therefore, the SCJ-India District is growing in initiating and carrying out new forms of ministries in accordance with the Charism, Spirituality, and Apostolate of the Congregation in the Indian context.
